About Sorcade
Only one question matters — is it fun?
Sorcade is a score and discovery site for open-source games. We currently list 156 games, every one of them released under an open-source license.
Why we exist
GitHub hosts thousands of open-source games. Some are polished enough to rival commercial releases; others are weekend experiments. Developers measure projects in stars, but players only want to know one thing: is it fun? We play the games, give each one a score, and help you find the ones worth your time.
Why only open-source games
- Free and legal. Open-source licenses explicitly grant you the right to get and play the game.
- They don't disappear. The source is public, so a community can keep a game alive after its original author moves on.
- No tricks. Open-source games rarely have microtransactions, ads or data harvesting.
How games are listed
A program searches GitHub through its official API and filters out non-games and projects whose license doesn't qualify. Fan games that use someone else's characters or trademarks, and projects that need you to buy commercial game data, are reviewed by a person and are not shown by default. The full rules are on our copyright & compliance page.
Scores and player reviews
- The Sorcade Score (0–100) is given by the Sorcade team. See how we score.
- The User Score and player reviews are written by the community. Anyone can sign in with Google and share a score, a review and screenshots.
